Learning Outcomes and Application | This unit of competency describes the knowledge and skills required to conduct clinical assessment and deliver basic clinical care in a pre-hospital/out-of-hospital environment. This unit applies to pre-hospital/out-of-hospital health care workers. The worker provides basic life support and prioritises clinical care of a patient in accordance with established clinical practice guidelines.The skills in this unit must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State/Territory legislation, Australian/New Zealand Standards and industry codes of practice. | ||
Duration and Setting | X weeks, nominally xx hours, delivered in a classroom/online/blended learning setting. Skills and knowledge must be demonstrated in the workplace with the addition of simulations and scenarios where the full range of contexts and situations cannot be provided in the workplace or may occur only rarely. The requirement in the performance evidence for performing clinical assessments and implementing basic clinical care for 3 patients for an illness or a trauma must have been demonstrated using simulation before being demonstrated in the workplace and with members of the public. The following conditions must be met for this unit: • use of suitable facilities, resources and equipment as per local governing body including: − simulation adult, child, infant manikins − vital signs monitoring devices − organisation policies and procedures and/or established clinical guidelines/protocols on which the candidate bases the planning process. Assessors must satisfy the Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) 2015/AQTF mandatory competency requirements for assessors. |
